About the role

In this permanent role, based at our Selby power station in Yorkshire, you will use your civil & structural engineering expertise to support the multidisciplinary Capital Projects engineering team responsible for major new build national and global Projects which help our Power generation business transition as part of the UK low carbon economy.

Reporting to the Lead Civil/structural Engineer, you'll be helping shape all aspects of civil and structural engineering on world class innovative projects including the words largest post combustion carbon capture plant and a major new build pump storage project.

You will be managing aspects of projects principally within our UK power generation portfolio from conception right through to delivery.

You'll be the subject matter for all things relating to civil engineering within the Capital Projects team. You'll work across a fleet of renewable, low carbon power stations that keep the countries lights on. But you won't be managing these sites, because your focus will be on their future.

You'll be given plenty of responsibility and the confidence to manage your own projects and workstreams.

Working to a high standard, you'll ensure that your projects adhere to relevant legislative, company and statutory requirements as well as deliver great results. You'll also partner with suppliers and manufacturers, appraising their offerings to identify the products and solutions that support our long-term strategy.

Alongside the technical aspects of the role, you'll work closely with third parties, from owners' engineers to OEM's and technology providers and be responsible for certain contract negotiations, contract management and tendering.

Most of all, you'll go home each day knowing your work is playing an important role in the journey to net zero.

So, what are we looking for?

You'll need to have a Civil/Structural Engineering Degree which is accepted entry for Chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Institution for Structural Engineers.

Ideally you will be a Chartered Engineer or nearing chartership. Your strong design and construction experience within Civil/structural Engineering is key to this role!

Expertise in designing using current & historic UK codes and analysis techniques is as important as your ability to manage multiple projects to a high standard.

You will need to hold a UK driving license and have a broad range of relevant postgraduate UK building design & construction experience.

You'll certainly be putting into action your confidence in managing contractors as well as building strong relationships with key stake holders and suppliers.
