Civil Design Engineer, Essex, to £65,000 per annum plus pension, bonus and benefits

A senior civil engineer is required by a leading contractor that is designing and building some of the UK's most prestigious building and transportation projects. They maintain a high level of technical expertise enabling them to minimise exposure to risks and improve productivity through careful tendering, detailed technical diligence and innovation. The technical team enjoys low levels of staff turnover and a range of attractive employee benefits. The vacancy is the result of a sustained increase of work in heavy civils focusing on high speed rail, nuclear, tunnelling and highways and major building projects typically valued upwards of fifty million pounds.

You will provide temporary works design expertise and provide advice to site based and tender teams. There will be extensive liaison with clients requiring occasional presentations. You should have experience of steel, concrete and masonry design. Furthermore, you should be familiar with some of the specialist aspects of temporary works such as falsework, formwork, façade support, ground support, propping, foundations for tower cranes, mobile crane hoists and gantries. You should be an incorporated or chartered engineer, or nearing chartership with the Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers.
