Murphy are keen to hear from confident Building / Civil Engineering Senior Engineer / Engineering Manager candidates regarding opportunities on the CP6 Anglia Framework. You will play a pivotal role in the successful development and implementation of rail projects, specifically enhancements and stations.

During the development stage your focus will be on planning construction methodologies and influencing design organisations to ensure we develop designs that can be built efficiently and safely. Thereafter in the implementation phases you will oversee the engineering and construction teams, ensuring the works are built right-first-time.

The Project

Murphy has been awarded one of three multi-billion-pound contracts by Network Rail for the South of England, worth up to 7bn for Control Period 6 (2019-2024). The multi-discipline framework will deliver projects of varying value, including stations, buildings and civils, electrifications, power, signalling, telecommunications and track. This is initially in place for a five-year period but has the option of three one-year extensions if required.

This specific role will focus on two large enhancement projects which include new railway stations, signalling, OLE, track, E&P, MEPH, buildings & civils, and telecoms.

The Role
  • Regular liaison with designer's to ensure design are efficient and safe to build
  • Input into the ‘development plan' to document the planned construction methodologies
  • Approval of detailed construction methodologies produced by the project teams e.g. WPP / TBS / RA's
  • Approval of inspection and test plans produced by the project teams
  • Review submissions for quality and sufficiency
  • Assist team members CEM / QS / PM as required with engineering input
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and assertive when required to ensure timeous deliver
  • Produce design briefs for temporary works
  • You may act as the Temporary Works Coordinator, carry out temporary works audits across the project, and review and appoint Temporary Works Supervisors

Your Profile
  • Previous CRE Construction approved (preferred)
  • Professional member of the ICE / IStructE (preferred)
  • Experience in the following areas (note, candidates need not have experience of all elements)
    • Managing design development
    • Ancillary railway civils
    • Station buildings, platforms, canopies, AFA bridges
    • Building services
    • Highway / public realm works
  • Good knowledge of relevant industry standards (design / construction)
  • Awareness of CSM-RA and CDM
  • Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other design-based software such as AutoCad
