Job Details
A UK-based Structural Warranty Provider seek a Structural Engineer (MIStructE / CEng) to provide design analysis of varied residential build types, typically 6 stories and above. Starting salary of up to 70,000 for the home-based permanent position.

The position is open to applicants across London and South East who have comprehensive design experience of multi-storey residential projects. In addition to home-based design analysis, site inspections of construction in progress account for 10,000 miles annual travel across the region.

Structural Engineer responsibilities
  • Provide specialised engineering input to ensure designs submitted by clients meet warranty criteria, in addition to intermittent site inspections of complex schemes in progress to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Conduct assessments of structural designs for a wide range of building types, including 6 storeys and above, including reviews from philosophy to detailed calculations
  • Point of liaison with developers/clients, Project Managers and co-ordinators, from commencement to completion, offering technical advice and guidance, ensuring standards and procedures are maintained
  • Liaison with the Marketing and Underwriting departments on technical matters so that they remain fully informed when dealing with potential clients

Structural Engineer requirements
  • Qualified Engineer (CEng, MIStructE, or similar)
  • In-depth technical knowledge of Structural Engineering principles applicable to Building Regulations, British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant publications (BRE, CIRIA, TRADA, ICE)
  • Proven capability to undertake site inspections to assess compliance with the approved design, Technical Manual, and Codes of Practice
  • Experience of design across varied methods of construction
  • Working understanding of Building Regulations and associated legislation
  • Experience across a broad range of building structures including high-rise structural frames
  • Understanding of general insurance principals and terminology; experience working for an insurer desirable
  • Experience of Relationship Management
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for business use
