Job DescriptionYou will take a lead role across a diverse range of projects, including design and build work, and provide key advisory services to clients across the UK and around the world. With a focus on pipelines/networks and water/wastewater treatment projects, we are require a chartered senior engineer with strong technical skills and experience in the design of water and wastewater systems. We work with a variety of clients (including Thames Water, Southern Water, Portsmouth Water, Welsh Water and Construction joint ventures) so you will be working on a diverse range of projects at various scales.
We require an senior engineer who is self-motivated and has a sound understanding of technical requirements to lead projects with high level supervision. You will take ownership of the technical elements and provide technical expertise across the team, leading designs, leading projects, technically mentoring and supervising junior staff.
You will contribute to, and manage, the preparation of outline and detailed civil engineering designs, technical and commercial specifications, drawings and schedules. This will often involve the coordination of resources across other offices and teams.
During the course of these activities, you will be expected to seek out cost savings and identify innovations, ensuring the delivery of the best solution in the most efficient manner.
You will also mentor junior staff in the Brighton team, providing them with vital guidance in the development of their careers, as your seniors will provide you with support in the development of yours.
You will also have the opportunity to get involved in business development work - contributing to, or leading, bids with both existing and new clients, potentially in new markets. You will also have opportunities to work with other divisions within our organisation and develop a wide range of technical networks through project work and our interactive online technical community.
While this role is focused on a technically orientated candidate and we have an excellent technical career development path, we can offer paths down technical, management or commercial/client-facing routes, or a combination thereof - you will have control of your own professional growth.   • Chartered or Incorporated civil engineer, or working towards
  • Extensive water/wastewater industry experience
  • Technical design experience - from feasibility to detailed design
  • Proactive and independent self-starter
  • Understanding of designer's responsibilities under CDM
  • Experience in coordinating teams
  • Experience in working with clients and other project stakeholders.
  • Experience in checking and reviewing the work of others
