Within our business we provide expert and specialist consultancy services across the globe. We pride ourselves on our blend of digital application and deep domain knowledge. Our fully integrated, multidisciplinary approach means we can deliver all the expertise a project requires, from master planning to create new port or airport facilities to detailed design and to optimising existing facilities.Role Context: The role will require you to use your technical training and practical experience to contribute to the development of engineering design solutions for maritime civil engineering structures and elements in steel, concrete, timber and other materials to relevant design codes. The role will require your engineering input in all project stages from inception, through design and construction, to demolition, recycling and reuse.
We have two roles based in Newcastle or Haywards Heath, our Maritime Teams are led by the local Associate Director. We have a wider UK maritime team based across 5 offices.
Job Role:Prepare designs and analysis for maritime and associated structures, from initial concepts through to detailed designs, including;
  • Collect and collate design data
  • Carry out inspections and surveys
  • Produce design calculations, check and review calculations produced by others.
  • Produce outline models, drawings and details for CAD (in Revit environment if you can but detailed drafting/modelling by modellers), check and review these prior to issue
  • Prepare draft Bills of Quantities, Contract Documents and Specifications.
  • Prepare reports and presentations.
  • Undertake structural analyses and reporting.
  • Provide engineering judgment and advice; contribute to preparation of study reports
  • Manage and direct more junior staff
  • Coach junior staff in technical matters

  • Personable - approachable, relatable and empathetic
  • BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering,
  • CEng, MICE
  • Good communicator (written and verbal)
  • Professional experience in planning and design of ports/ heavy civils projects
  • Experience in reinforced concrete design and finite element analysis
  • Shipyard Design experience
  • Retaining wall and piling design experience
