Starting Salary Range:  $100,819 - $110,168 annually, DOQ                        

The City of Covington is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional engineer eager to contribute toward quality growth of a young, dynamic city.  As Covington’s Development Review Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising professional and technical engineering operations for development review engineering projects; evaluating complex engineering designs, plans, and specifications; coordinating developer projects and Capital Improvement Projects; and performing site construction inspection.  The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication skills reflecting the confidence of combined knowledge and solid experience.  They will bring a positive energy to their work environment while striving to reinforce the organizational values of Team, Positivity, Integrity and Innovation.

Education and Experience

Minimum criteria include a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university, a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Washington; and five (5) or more years of experience in civil engineering, including three (3) years of project administration and management responsibilities. 

Preferred criteria, in addition to minimum criteria, a Project Management Professional certification or equivalent experience.

A different, yet equivalent, combination of education and experience than the aforementioned that effectively demonstrates the ability to successfully carry out the requirements of the position may be considered.

Special requirements

A valid Washington State Driver’s License with a driving record free of serious or frequent violations; acceptable results from a nationwide criminal background check; and proper documentation to fulfill the requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act within three (3) days of employment.
