We currently have an opportunity to join our Water Management Team which is responsible for the management and maintenance of all watercourses, numerous bodies of water and associated infrastructure across the council's area. As a key member of the team you will be involved in the design, maintenance and inspection of watercourses and the management of reservoirs such as Strathclyde Loch, Broadwood Loch and Forrestburn Reservoir, as well as many rivers, burns, streams and tributaries. You will also work closely with other service departments and external organisations such as Scottish Water and SEPA ensuring that our infrastructure is managed and maintained to current standards and codes of practice. In addition, you will be involved in the design, procurement and implementation of flood protection studies, surface water management plans and projects associated with the Local Flood Risk Management Plan.

To be a success in this role you will require appropriate legislative and technical knowledge, you will respond to service requests from customers and clients, assist in development and delivering asset management plans, programmes of work and projects. You will also be required to deliver day to day tender, procurement and contract administration and check and certify transactions.

With significant relevant experience, you will be educated to SVQ Level 3, HNC Level or equivalent, in Civil Engineering or a relevant subject. Equally important, you will be a confident communicator, be customer focused, be IT literate and have good problem solving and analytical skills.

You must have experience of tendering, procurement and contracts, processing financial documents and transactions, budget control and also have knowledge of health and safety matters. A good communicator, you should have knowledge of compliance with financial procedures, legislative and technical knowledge of an appropriate area of work and be able to assist in policy development. A self-motivated individual, you should be able to work under pressure to specific deadlines and directions, whilst working as part of a team.

You must hold a current driver's licence as you will be expected to travel throughout the area of North Lanarkshire Council, out with public transport routes.

You will be joining a dynamic and flexible team within Infrastructure and Transportation, who currently operate an agile model of home-working and office-based work at locations within North Lanarkshire. You will be required to travel throughout North Lanarkshire to undertake the duties of this post.
