The Company

Our client is a highly successful and privately owned civil engineering contractor who have been established for over 50 years. They have demonstrated year on year growth and are now looking to bring in an Estimator who can become a key part of the commercial Team.

They have a very diverse project portfolio, with most of the upcoming work within new build & refurbishment across multiple sectors. across the commercial and industrial new build sectors. They work on behalf of some of the most reputable Tier 1 contractors such as Skanska & Amey.

You will be working directly underneath the Directors with no other direct reports. This will allow you to have full control over the Estimating department and become a key part of the organisation.

Due to an extremely impressive pipeline of new work, they are now looking to bring in an Estimator to work alongside a Senior Estimator as part of a highly successful commercial team. As the team continues to grow, there will be plenty of opportunities for promotions and there is a very clear path up to Senior Estimator and a Director level position.

Responsibilities of the Estimator:

Preparation of tenders to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements, setting priorities.
Proactive involvement in establishing the Bid Strategy to win assigned tenders.
Bid manage assigned tenders to ensure a robust tender is produced to meet tender deliverables and timescale.
Prepares construction budget by studying design information; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each element of the projects.
Evaluating offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and project requirements.
Obtaining bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating prices.

Tender analysis
Tender presentations
Maintains cost keys and price masters by updating relevant information.
Resolving cost discrepancies by collecting and analysing information.
Preparing tender reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends.
Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Supporting commercial team
Regular review of the supply chain To be successful as the Estimator, you will need to possess the following:

A proven track record in estimating civil engineering projects.
Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
Excellent commercial acumen.
Good management skills
A proactive and organised approach with the ability to work to strict deadlines in a fast and dynamic environment.
Ability to use estimating software such as Causeway.
