Lynas Engineers Ltd

You've laid the foundations for a successful career in structural engineering. Now it's time to build upwards - to take on a little extra weight of responsibility.

In this newly created role, you'll have the freedom to build your own division in a successful, supportive civil engineering consultancy.

If you're currently feeling constrained in a corporate role or maybe working for a smaller consultancy without a lot of space to develop, this is a fantastic chance to spread your wings.

About the opportunity

You'll join Lynas Engineers, a creative consultancy that's recently celebrated its fifth birthday. Lynas have built a reputation for carrying out customer-focused bespoke design and infrastructure projects: highways, drainage, enabling works for new developments…

Increasingly, clients are looking for structural engineering support, which is currently handled externally. With you on board, Lynas can bring this work in house and start to develop this side of their service.

Your brief is to build a new structural engineering team from the ground up. That begins with developing client relationships - both new and existing -to bring in new business. The aim is that you'll soon be mentoring new team members, sharing your technical knowledge and making sure that their work meets your own high standards for design and best practice.

About you

Lynas are very positive about career development, so this could be a step up for someone with the right experience and personal characteristics:

You're probably working as a Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer - or you're recognised as someone who's ready to step up to that level.
You almost certainly have Chartered status already; if you're close to achieving it, Lynas will support you with that.
You've gained plenty of experience of delivering client-liaising projects in a civil/structural engineering consultancy, including involvement in infrastructure design.
You've consistently proven you're capable of producing detailed designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, engineering reports and figures, to a high standard.
You can use software such as Tekla, Revit and AutoCAD.
You've shown you can think strategically, embrace new challenges and solve technical problems.
You've probably gained some experience of leading a team before; if not you'll need to convince us that you can influence, organise and inspire other people.
You're an accomplished communicator - whether you're cultivating relationships with customers, presenting to colleagues or writing technical reports. About the business

When they set up shop at the Wilton Centre, five years ago, Lynas wanted to get as far away as possible from the drab, dull image often associated with the civil engineering sector. Step into their office and you'll see splashes of orange all around you, which perfectly captures the company's energy and optimism.

Lynas aim to be consultative and creative in everything they do - to focus strongly on what's best for each customer. It's clearly paying off - the business is growing and their order book is healthy. If, like them, you bring a positive, can-do approach to your work, it's a perfect place to develop your career.
