Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer- Birmingham

The Geo-Environmental Engineering Department is responsible for the delivery of Ground Investigations, Remediation reports and numerous other forms of survey related to the construction industry for projects and sites throughout the U.K

My client is seeking a Graduate Geo-Environmental Engineer to provide support to their current Engineers. This is a good opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a busy and varied role with good training and progression opportunities.

Key Skills and Experience required:
·First degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, Geotechnical Engineering, Earth Sciences, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering, or a relevant subject area. A masters degree in a relevant discipline is desirable.
·The ability to interpret geological maps and geological data and a theoretical knowledge on engineering geology.
·Ability to follow instruction, be flexible and work well in a team environment.
·Knowledge of geological soil and rock descriptions, including Knowledge of logging sample to the required standards (desirable- training provided).
·Exceptional written and communication skills.
·Willingness to promote health and safety on site.
·Willingness to work on site with occasional overnight visits.
·Full UK driving licence, with access to own vehicle being desirable.
·Experience (6 months +) within a similar role is desirable, but not a requirement.

Typical Duties within the role:
·Fieldwork supervision of ground investigations including site walkovers, soil and rock logging, soil sampling, foundation inspections, infiltration testing, gas and groundwater monitoring & sampling in line with the most current British Standards.
·Reporting of Geo-Environmental & Geotechnical data.
·Undertake preparation of factual and interpretive Geotechnical and Contamination reporting (under guidance of a Senior Engineer).
·A combination of site and office-based work
·Colleague and Client Liaison
