Whether youre searching for a more fulfilling career, or youre considering your options before entering the workplace, we need you to join us as one of 500 new apprentices on our Smart Energy Apprenticeship Scheme 2022.

What a year we have had at British Gas. Out apprenticeship programme in Smart Metering through 2021 has brought us 500 new recruits with close to 200 of these talented females. Our apprentices are from diverse backgrounds, gender, age. There are no prerequisites to becoming a Smart meter apprentice.

Smart Metering is probably new to you, so we'll provide you with outstanding training at one of our award-winning Learning Centres to give you the technical skills and knowledge you'll need. You'll then be ready to go to our customers' homes in your own fully equipped van, with the latest tablet and mobile phone at your fingertips.

Career progression is important to us and we encourage our team to strive for success by offering cross skilling in new trade roles such as Heat Pump Engineers and Electric Vehicle Charging Point Engineers as well as Gas Service & Repair Engineers. Ideally we would like you to have four GCSE's/Scottish NAT5s, or equivalent at grade C/4 or above, and excellent customer service skill we want you to come join us.A driving licence is essential

Your salary will start at £14,000 rising to £17,000 after 19 weeks and £20,000 after 27 weeks. Once fully fledged your salary will have risen to £29,000.

On average our Smart Engineers earn a further £4000 each year through bonuses and overtime. We offer an array of excellent benefits including pension and company discounts.
