Senior Geo-environmental EngineerAufgaben
Position Summary:

TUV SUD Nuclear Technologies Ltd is currently seeking a senior geo-environmental engineer to join our growing Land Quality team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the contaminated land industry and bring an enthusiastic, confident, and self-motivated outlook, alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills.

A significant area of our business sits within the Nuclear Sector, focused on decommissioning as well as new build; as such, an understanding of the challenges of project delivery and project life cycles within this or other comparable sectors will be an advantage, although not essential.
Responsibilities and authority:

Design and management of contaminated land and hydrogeological site investigations.

Soil and groundwater field data acquisition.

Design of monitoring wells and surface water & groundwater monitoring networks.

Geological, hydrogeological, geophysical, and geochemical data analysis and interpretation, aimed at establishing a full understanding of the site geology, the groundwater flow regime, and the contamination transport, and translate this into robust site conceptual models.

Qualitative and quantitative human health and controlled waters risk assessments, gas, and land subsidence risk assessments.

Soil & groundwater remediation options appraisals and strategies.

Technical reporting (Phase 1 desk studies, Phase 2 GIRs etc).

Proposals coordination and preparation.

Education and Experience

Undergraduate degree in geology/geography/environmental sciences/civil engineering

MSc in engineering geology / geotechnical engineering / hydrogeology/contaminated land management, etc.

Specific skills, knowledge, competencies, and training


Good general IT skills including proficiency in using the MS Office package, remote conference software, etc.

Site experience including drilling supervision, groundwater monitoring, sample dispatching, etc.

Familiarity with AGS data transfer.

Understanding of the basis of use of industry data assessment and screening values ( such as S4UL and C4SL, EQS, etc.)

Ability to learn other specific state of the art software used for contaminated land projects.

Attention to detail.

Good written and verbal communication skills

Self-motivation and a proactive attitude to work

Good teamworking skills and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Ability to prioritise tasks/projects and work smoothly under pressure.

Ability to translate client requirements into working solutions.

Positive attitude to Health and Safety alongside experience of generating health and safety plans ( risk assessments and method statements to support site work).

Adaptable and friendly and able to assimilate into a small team.

Full driving licence.


Specialist experience in the investigation and remediation of chlorinated solvents would be advantageous.

Knowledge of standard GIS and CAD software packages

Understanding / knowledge of groundwater numerical modelling concepts and software packages.

Mentoring of junior colleagues.

Project management skills.

Some experience in collecting geotechnical information from various ground investigation techniques.
