That is why the Construction Engineering Inspector position is an exciting, entry-level opportunity for anyone who is interested in beginning a career in municipal government especially in public works, engineering, or construction management. As a Construction Engineering Inspector, you will work under the supervision of the Public Works Construction Division’s Engineering Supervisor. Your primary responsibilities will be to assist with construction management of the City's capital improvement projects.
 
The perfect candidate is anyone with any training or knowledge of engineering and design, construction methods and materials, project management, or construction cost-estimating. This is a great entry-level job for engineers or engineers-in-training who want to see first-hand how projects are really built and use this experience to broaden and enhance their design skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • AA degree in Engineering or related field with 2 or more years of vocational training/experience in construction inspection or similar field.
  • High School diploma or GED with 5 or more years of vocational training/experience in construction inspection or similar field
