As a Lead Construction Engineering Inspector, you will work under the supervision of the Public Works Construction Division’s Engineering Supervisor. Your primary responsibilities include inspection of a wide variety of capital construction projects as well as overseeing Construction Engineering Inspectors, interns and contract inspectors. The Lead is responsible for organizing and prioritizing work, as well as providing technical assistance and insight when challenging issues arise.
 
The perfect candidate is anyone with considerable training or knowledge of engineering and design, construction methods and materials, project management, construction cost-estimating, and City, WSDOT, and federal compliance requirements. This is a great next level job for someone who has or is looking to gain supervisory or people-management experience and skills to add to their technical skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management with three (3) or more years of vocational training/experience in construction inspection or similar field, or;
  • AA degree in Engineering or related field with 5 or more years of vocational training/experience in construction inspection or similar field, or;
  • High School diploma or GED with 8 or more years of vocational training/experience in construction inspection or similar field.
