JOB TITLE: Graduate Engineering Scheme 2022- Permanent
OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
An exciting opportunity for bright, technical 2022 graduates to join this firm and develop within the company. You will be based at the Head Office with some training requirement to undertake site visits and surveys following training. There is an option to relocate to the Yorkshire offices in the future. This scheme will provide an opportunity to work within design and/or tendering and build an engineering career to chartered status.
Starting in a Graduate training role in Northamptonshire you will spend time with key members of the team understanding the service and tasks you will undertake for each project, looking into client projects and getting to grips with tendering processes, design and CAD software, in house and external approval processes.
You will eventually be based witihin the design or tendering team and take on tasks that will include:

The successful candidate will work across a portfolio of key customers developing designs and helping estimate the cost of our offers.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
HOURS OF WORK: 8:30 - 5:00 Monday to Friday

Design TEAM:
- Produce compliant designs of multi utility projects (electricity, gas, telecoms and water)
- Liaise with Tendering and Construction departments to ensure project design drawings are detailed correctly
- Liaise directly with clients, internal and external stakeholders. Some site visits are required
- Provide technical support to the wider business as your knowledge builds
- Maintain internal CAD libraries and templates
- Maintain design software/tools and product databases
- Continually review Electricity and Gas design processes to minimise business exposure
Tendering TEAM:
The successful candidate will work across a portfolio of key customers developing designs and helping estimate the cost of our offers.
- Prepare design schemes and solutions based on the requirements and client requests
- Work with engineers to get additional design inputs
- Work with sub-contractors for quotes
- Prepare cost estimates and manage internal approvals on costs as appropriate
- Present the offers to clients, and attend mid-bid and post bid clarification meetings
- Prepare handover to operations for delivery
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- A relevant Engineering (ie Electrical, Renewable, Gas, Water), Maths or relevant Technical Degree
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and the willingness to train on other software
- Some understanding/study of utility network design or the built environment
- Good awareness of Construction Design Management (CDM) and health & safety regulations
- A strong customer focused attitude with commitment to CPD
- Team Player
- Organised, excellent attention to detail, self-motivated, with good time management skills
- WinDebut or GasWorks/SNAP competence - desired but not essential
