Summary of Position                                                             

2021 Lecturer Position-The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New Hampshire seeks innovative teacher-scholar, committed to excellence in engineering education, to join our dedicated family of faculty members in the area of Environmental Engineering. The Department seeks excellence through diversity among its administrators, faculty, staff, and students. The lecturer position is full-time, benefited, non-tenure track, and offers the potential for employment security with a multi-year appointment at the junior, senior, or principal level.

The expectation is that the instructor will teach and develop curriculum for nominally five courses per academic year at the undergraduate and graduate level. The instructor will also be responsible for student advising, department service, and outreach to professional and alumni constituents.

The successful candidate’s primary teaching responsibility will be environmental engineering core courses in water, wastewater, and solid and hazardous waste treatment. The ability and interest in teaching senior elective courses with design concepts, is also required, and we welcome new elective topics that align with, and could be brought to, the program by the candidate. Depending on interests and expertise, the candidate will teach courses which may include: Sampling and Analysis, Solid and Hazardous Waste, Water and Wastewater Treatment, Environmental Pollution, Marine Pollution, Environmental Chemistry, Air Pollution, and other courses as may align with the applicant’s professional experience.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications                               

Applicants must hold either a Ph.D. or an M.S. in Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline. A minimum of five years experience in the profession is highly desired. Current professional registration or the ability to become a registered professional engineer within two years of appointment is required.
