Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County is seeking a full-time Registered Civil Engineer with a public works and sanitary sewer background. The Staff Engineer is responsible for the preparation of plans and specifications, in coordination with the Consulting Engineers, for various sewer system and storm sewer projects including construction management. In addition, the Staff Engineer is responsible for the coordination and review of all land development plan submissions. He/she administers the policies of the Township Manager and works directly and cooperatively with the Planning Commission, Sewer Department, and the Public Works Department.

The Staff Engineer is responsible for the management of the subdivision and development process relative to sanitary sewer and storm sewer facilities. He/she is responsible for the management of consultants and contractors providing services to the Township and the Authority as part of the sanitary sewer and public works capital improvement plans. The Staff Engineer assists the Public Works Director and Sewer Department Director in the preparation and management of the annual capital budget as it relates to the public works and sanitary sewer projects. The Staff Engineer is responsible for providing advice and representation on engineering matters as directed by the Township Manager. Annual Salary:  $87,075.00. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Min. quals: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience with civil engineering activities related to transportation management, roadway construction and maintenance, storm water management, sanitary sewer construction, and subdivision and land development is required for the position. Licensure as a Registered Engineer in Pennsylvania with experience in civil engineering in municipal government operations is required. Or any acceptable combination of education, experience, and/or training.

Other Requirements:  A favorable criminal background check and a valid driver’s license are required.
