What is the Role?

As a Project Engineer, your role will focus on the engineering of distributed energy systems to support large buildings, campuses or developments across different geographies (projects) and clients with a focus on retrofitting systems to existing sites. A large proportion of the projects will be energy performance contracts across these different projects & clients. You'll combine an understanding of the engineering tasks necessary for the successful development of distributed energy systems that meet client objectives - for example carbon reduction, Capex optimisation, revenue generation or Opex reduction.

In this role you'll support the detailed design of energy infrastructure (RIBA Stage 4) and use your understanding of competing design considerations, such as cost and efficiency. Fundamental to this role is a strong understanding of distributed energy systems (ground or roof mounted solar PV, district heating & cooling, heat pumps, building services and energy storage and so on).

Other responsibilities in this role will include supporting investment grade energy audits, contributing to the detailed design of individual energy systems (e.g. rooftop solar, lighting, air source heat pumps or BMS), liaising with consultants & subcontractors and assisting with report write-up throughout project stages.

As Junior Energy Performance Engineer, you'll work within a developing smart energy systems team which has an established track record of delivering energy performance contracts over many years. Its important that you enjoy working within a small engineering team and like stretching your capabilities beyond the daily norm e.g. developing marketing material or delivering innovation projects.

This role reports to the Smart Energy Systems Engineering Team Lead.
