Due to continued growth, a significant increase in workload and the recent award of a significant package within the HS2 programme, our client now wishes to appoint a Structural Engineer.
The Role
Provide structural design solutions (steel, concrete) to meet all of the requirements and key drivers of any given contract or client requirements
Produce designs which are cost effective, aligned to the specification, and which can be developed, procured, installed, constructed, and delivered effectively, safely and efficiently
Liaise with clients, suppliers, internal teams and external consultants or stakeholders to deliver project designs to a high standard from concept stage to construction
Assist or support bids and tenders
Participate in regular review meetings with the relevant teams developing a pro-active focus upon client expectations and contract design delivery
Liaise with other design disciplines and internal teams
Conduct structural surveys during site visits to ensure designs will be effective, practical, and deliverable
Review, approve and comment on sub-contract and consultants designs
Motivate team members by possessing a positive attitude, and a sound knowledge and experience of structural design principles
Ensure that designs adhere to Eurocode standards and company policies in line with business objectives
The Person
Possessing a degree in civil or structural engineering (or similar) and at least 3-5 years practical working experience within a similar position or sector
Knowledge of various structural design systems or processes such as slabs, sections, beams, concrete, steel sections, temporary or permanent works and RC works
Demonstrable experience of working closely with clients and their technical representatives
Knowledge of temporary works systems or temporary works procedures
To have commercial awareness, be highly organised and able to use your own initiative
To be confident, and possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
Offer the ability to adapt and amend workload priorities in a regularly changing environment
To be a natural team worker, with a positive and friendly attitude, and be self-sufficient with minimal supervision required
