Nature of Work

The Civil Engineer will assist in the design, preconstruction, and development efforts for assigned projects. The location of this position is flexible and could be located in any of the following locations: Austin, Dallas, Kansas City, or Jacksonville.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Take an active role in preconstruction and the design with a focus on civil aspects of assigned projects through development of a site based upon core engineering and market-based standards
  • Creates and maintains a positive environment and team approach for all assignments
  • Identify, review, and analyze principal design features, requirements, phasing, and conflicts associated with assigned projects
  • Utilize CAD in development of site planning and project coordination with the design team Assist the preconstruction and design teams in reviewing, facilitating design, and drawing development from conceptual to final design
  • Review and/or develop scope of design requirements on assigned projects. Analyze criteria against applicable code and regulations to maintain compliance.
  • Assist in the development and management of internal drafting standards Assist in the development and management of design and permitting review standards
  • Participate in compiling technical responses and qualifications for solicitations Participate in design meetings, bidding meetings, and presentation meetings as required
  • Maintains effective communications with multiple teams including design, estimating, operations, and jurisdictional staff Interface with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment of the project design
  • Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization

  • Strong communicator with interpersonal hard/soft skills; role will work within a dynamic/fast-paced team/client environment
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple, complex projects simultaneously 
  • Demonstrates proficiency within computer aided design with ability to learn new versions; preferred AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil3D or Revit
  • Detailed understanding of land development principles Strong understanding of design drawing development, review, and approval process

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or in a related field from a four-year college/university, or equivalent experience. 

Experience

  • 3-5+ years or more of related work experience required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) by the state board having jurisdiction; Texas State Board of Professional Engineers, or similar
