Starting salary up to $80.50/hour ($168,013/year) plus a competitive total compensation package.*

Please note: To be considered for this position, applicants are required to possess current registration as a Professional Land Surveyor by the State of California.

At Sonoma Water, the Water Agency Land Surveyor is a vital position which oversees and coordinates Survey and Right of Way services and works in close collaboration with other departments, County Counsel, external partner agencies, and the public. This position oversees a team of six full-time, professional and technical Survey and Right of Way and Extra-Help staff, manages the services provided, and reviews the deliverable work products produced by the team to control and assure the quality of the services and the resulting deliverable products. The Water Agency Land Surveyor provides guidance and expertise needed for property boundary determination/retracement, principles of land title/property ownership, transactional real estate conveyance and transfer, and applicable laws and regulations regarding the merger or subdivision of real property interests, as well as mapping, platting, and describing the real property interests.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Developing, mentoring, and supervising staff including team-building, providing feedback, and performance evaluation
  • Creating timeline and budget estimates for the services and work products
  • Communicating and reporting staffing, equipment, vehicles, and resource needs and utilization to management; and procuring software, vehicles, and equipment
  • Developing budgets and monitoring/approving expenditures connected with the operations of the Survey and Right of Way Sections
  • Tracking the status of and ensuring cost effective and timely delivery of services and deliverables
  • Procuring outside professional services when needed and managing and administering professional services agreements and deliverables
  • Acting as a working supervisor as needed to address the demands for services and work products
