The Opportunity
McElhanney Consulting Services Inc. is seeking a motivated Bridge Engineer with a passion for challenging bridge projects to join our long span and complex bridge team in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you will work with a collaborative team on a variety of North American and international bridge projects, including cable-stayed, extradosed, tied arches, suspension, construction engineering, incremental launching, demolition engineering, value engineering, and temporary works design. This role is best suited for a self-motivated junior to intermediate-level professional who is looking to join a well-established consulting firm.
McElhanney has industry-leading professionals and mentors and established programs that support the growth of our future leaders. Our bridge group provides design and construction engineering services for all types of bridges including long-span crossings that require a level of knowledge and experience beyond the average. Our bridge team consists of a total of 30 engineers and detailers in our Victoria, Vancouver, and Tampa, FL offices.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Prepare and review structural design calculations of highway bridges, pedestrian bridges, railroad bridges and temporary works Assist in the preparation of design plans, erection manuals, and contract documents Perform site visits as directed by a senior engineer Work with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained.
What You’ll Bring:
- 2-10 years’ experience in the design and/or construction engineering of bridges. Engineer-in-Training or PE in the United States Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Structural Engineering is an asset. Knowledge & experience with bridge design (AASHTO), including steel, concrete and structural analysis. High productivity, attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work well in a team environment. Strong people skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse individuals Legally authorized to work in the United States
