First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client to recruit a Senior/Project Structural Engineer to join their team in Plymouth.
The Senior/Project Structural Engineer will be responsible for the preparation, issue and management of technical project information, including calculations and drawing information, in accordance with the standard requirements of the Company. They will also be responsible for the technical, financial and managerial aspects of complete projects, as directed by their line manager, and will maintain high standards of information presentation and to ensure their accuracy.

The Senior/Project Structural Engineer will be responsible for the preparation, issue and management of technical project information, including calculations and drawing information, in accordance with the standard requirements of the Company. They will also be responsible for the technical, financial and managerial aspects of complete projects, as directed by their line manager, and will maintain high standards of information presentation and to ensure their accuracy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be involved in projects from inception through to completion stage.
- Assistant in marketing / winning new work and preparing fee proposals as directed.
- Engineering design, project management and time management.
- Producing and checking design calculations, drawings etc.
- Site inspections and surveys.
- Liaising with clients.
- Providing technical guidance to customers and colleagues.
- Assisting and mentoring of junior staff.
Skills and Experience:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (essential).
- Chartered or near Chartered status with IStructE / ICE.
- Proven experience of structural design on a broad range of projects and materials, including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
- Experience in the structural design of highway structures and other Development Infrastructure projects (highly desirable).
- Experience and ability to deliver successful projects and developing good working relationship with clients and key stakeholders.
- Good report writing skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- You will work well as part of a team.
