Plans and implements the city's drainage and flood control capital improvement program.  Develops and maintains the city's Stormwater Master Plan which provides guidance for managing the city's floodplains in accordance with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Flood Insurance Program requirements.  Responds to drainage complaints and enforces the city's storm water ordinance.  Serves as the City's Floodplain Administrator.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis on hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology, or related fields from an accredited educational institution.
  • Five years of progressively responsible project management experience.
  • Must have at least one year of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Preferred:
    • A Master's Degree in Civil Engineering / Public Administration
    • Two years’ experience at the project manager level.
  • An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements

  • An Arizona Professional Engineer License is required or must be obtained within six months of hire/promotion, to include through reciprocity.
  • A Certified Floodplain Manager credential is required or must be obtained within six months of hire/promotion, to include through reciprocity.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.  The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver’s licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona. 
  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
