Largest independent geotechnical and geoenvironmental consultancy in the UK is actively recruiting for a passionate Geotechnical engineer who wants to develop further. This position can offer a clear progression path with regular opportunities for self development.
Responsibilities include:
1. Attend Production Manager meetings and work in conjunction with other Department Managers as a Management Team with overall responsibility for all Geotechnical production matters.
2. Attend external meetings as Department Representative.
3. Identify and develop sales strategy for department in conjunction with Associate and sales team.
4. Develop department budget and control financial performance of department in conjunction with Associate and Senior department staff.
5. Early involvement in Group Bids and/or department specific estimates/scope of work in conjunction with estimating team.
6. Provide detailed technical advice to clients and approve interpretative reports prior to submission.
7. Manage the department functions on a daily basis and aid with staff development.
8. Management of a team of approx. 20 staff with turnover of circa £2M.
Key Requirements:
1. Financial/commercial acumen and awareness - must have a fundamental understanding of the department performance.
2. Business development - includes both customer relations and identifying new opportunities/clients/work streams; effectively driving the department forward (in conjunction with sales and other department heads).
3. Estimating - involvement at estimating stage to ensure submissions are accurate, commercially astute and competitive.
4. Strong personal skills - overall responsibility for the department but able to delegate daily aspects to others (e.g. health and safety, quality, training, project management, programming of workload).
5. Technical competency - ideally a Chartered Engineer or Geologist to provide sign off for technical reports (and preference given to RoGEP qualification).
Salary: Starting at £45,000.00+ DOE
