Our client is a leading global business with an excellent reputation for their breadth of capability and their capacity to provide innovative solutions for challenging projects.

They are currently seeking talented Senior Geotechnical Design Engineers who want to develop their careers with a multi-award winning consultancy, working on challenging, interesting and innovative projects. The roles are within their Geotechnical Engineering Design (GED) section, consisting of Geotechnical Engineers, Civil Engineers and Engineering Geologists, working on projects across the UK and abroad.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects including highways, rock slope engineering, major earthworks and foundation design in the domestic and industrial building sectors, defence infrastructure and on flood protection schemes. Opportunities also arise to support international projects, including work in the Middle East, Caribbean and West Africa.

Key responsibilities

You will support projects through opportunity pursuit, bid, delivery, and completion stages and will take responsibility for the timely delivery of project output.

Key responsibilities will include:

Geotechnical desk studies
Development of ground models
Geotechnical design to EC7
Earthworks assessment and specification
Soil and rock slope engineering
Ground Investigation Reports (GIRs)
Geotechnical Design Reports (GDRs)
Geotechnical Feedback Reports (GFRs)
Project and financial management

Skills & Experience

Suitable candidates will need to be effective communicators and be prepared to make sound engineering decisions in the technical direction and delivery of a wide portfolio of projects.

You will show an aptitude for project management and financial management.

You should be qualified with a degree in civil engineering or geology, emphasis will be given to candidates with a second degree in a geotechnical engineering or engineering geology related subject.

Candidates will preferably be Chartered Engineers (CEng) or Geologists (CGeol) or close to submission of a chartership application to the relevant professional body.

You will demonstrate a genuine interest in geotechnical engineering and construction and have proven experience in ground risk management, particularly in the transportation, water, energy and building sectors.

You should be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of UK Standards (EC7, CD622, BS8002, BS8004 etc) within a multi-discipline scenario.

In addition, it is expected that you will be familiar with current geotechnical engineering design software such as SLOPE/SLOPEW, PDISP, WALLAP and PLAXIS 2D and be proficient in the use of some of these within practical applications.
