Forge Engineering Design Solutions are looking to recruit an experienced part-time home-based Civil Design Engineer.
We are a small, well-established consultancy based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire providing civil and structural design consultancy across England and Wales.
The ideal candidate will:
* have previous experience in a similar role
* be able to work autonomously, working mostly from home, after an initial settling in period, followed by periodic office catch up days
* be confident to provide pre-application planning engineering advice, engineering technical support for outline and detailed planning applications and the approval of reserved matters, discharge engineering based planning conditions
* be able to produce engineering reports, including Flood Risk Assessments, Foul Drainage Assessment, Land Contamination Preliminary Risk Assessment and Utility Assessments, or willing to learn where experience has not already been obtained
* be able to prepare detailed civil engineering design information for construction such as sustainable drainage systems, foul drainage systems, residential roads and accesses,
* be able to prepare Highways Section 38, Section 184 and Section 278 applications, designs and drawings
* have a strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, Design Standards, Codes of Practice and Health and Safety regulations
* have experience in dealing with clients and other members of a professional team
* have excellent communication skills, being able to communicate effectively, writing clear and concise emails, letters, and reports
* be willing and able to attend project meetings and site visits
* be proficient with AutoCAD, Word, Excel and Outlook
* ideally be able to undertake some simple structures work or willing to learn
* hold an MEng or BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
* be or be working towards being Chartered with ICE
