Forge Engineering Design Solutions are looking to recruit an experienced part-time home-based Structural Design Engineer.

We are a small, well-established consultancy based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire providing civil and structural design consultancy across England and Wales.

The ideal candidate will:

* have previous experience in a similar role

* be able to work autonomously, working mostly from home, after an initial settling in period, followed by periodic office catch up days

* be confident to provide pre-application planning engineering advice, engineering technical support for outline and detailed planning applications and the approval of reserved matters, discharge engineering based planning conditions

* be able to produce engineering reports, such as structural inspection reports and site inspection reports

* be able to prepare detailed engineering design information for construction

* have a strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, Design Standards, Codes of Practice and Health and Safety regulations

* have experience in dealing with clients and other members of a professional team

* have excellent communication skills, being able to communicate effectively, writing clear and concise emails, letters, and reports

* be willing and able to attend project meetings and site visits

* be proficient with AutoCAD, Word, Excel and Outlook

* ideally be able to do some simple drainage design, Flood Risk Assessments, and Utility Assessments or willing to learn

* hold an MEng or BEng in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

* be or working towards being Chartered or IStructE
