A national structural warranty provider seeks a Structural Engineer to assess client designs as part of their home-based technical team. Knowledge of foundation design is sought in respect to low-rise and traditional housing across varied construction methods. Starting salary of up to £60,000, bonus structure, enhanced pension and healthcare.

The role is open to applications from engineers based across England and Wales due to the minimal travel required in respect to site visits in a claims context.

Structural Engineer responsibilities

Carry out technical audits on structures to ensure that they present no higher than a standard risk to the insurer for the duration of the warranty and/or in terms of their compliance with Approved Document A of the Building Regulations
Undertake assessments of designs from a range of building types, often with emphasis on their substructure
Consistent communication with project managers, coordinators and surveyors on technical matters, ensuring that standards and procedures are being maintained
Ongoing liaison with developers and clients to provide technical advice and guidance
Provide technical advice on claims in addition to undertaking occasional inspections on site, providing assessments of more complex claims to assess causes and identify remedial works
Liaison with the Marketing and Underwriting departments on technical matters so that they remain fully informed when dealing with potential clientsStructural Engineer requirements

Qualified Structural Engineer - via CEng / MIStructE
In-depth technical knowledge of Structural Engineering principles encompassing Building Regulations, British Standards, Eurocodes and other recognised third party publications (BRE, CIRIA, TRADA, ICE, et)
Proven capability to undertake site inspections to assess compliance with the approved design, technical manuals, and Codes of Practice
Foundation design experience of pile design, raft foundation design and ground improvement techniques
Basement design experience
Experience across a broad range of building structures
Broad understanding of general insurance principals and terminology
Experience of relationship management
