About the Client: A leading multi-disciplined specialist civils contractor across the UK. They deliver an extensive range of engineering, build and construction services on some of the most prestigious projects in the world. They have a turnover of circa £500m. They offer leading edge services across their Construction Engineering and Digital Engineering disciplines. They provide Construction Process Design for large projects that require engineering solutions that are optimised against a fast and economic programme. They provide Temporary Works Design to allow these designs to be carried out; and simulate using Construction Animations and advanced Building Information Modelling.

About the Role: Reporting to the Associate Design Engineer, the purpose of the Design Engineer is to create and deliver effective temporary works designs for safe, fast and low-cost construction.You are responsible for supporting Project Managers, in the delivery of projects by providing temporary works designs, drawings, and sequences. Demonstrating exceptional engineering and organisational skills to create an environment and culture that reflects the business. You must have;

Understanding design requirements
Sound understanding of engineering and structural principles, mechanics, and materials
Carry out a range of analysis in different materials during different construction phases
Sound understanding of the construction process, machinery and methods
Developing Concept Designs
Liaising with other team members and Clients
Carrying out detailed engineering calculations
Producing sketches and AutoCAD drawings
Developing sequence constraint envelopes
Researching new ideas, developing hypothesis, testing and writing reports
About the Requirements;
Skills & Experience

Masters degree (MEng) or similar that meets the academic requirements for registration with
Chartered or near chartered (or 3-years experience as a Design Engineer)
Sound understanding of engineering and structural principles in Concrete, Steel & Timber
Good understanding of geotechnical principles, including retaining walls, and pile design
Good knowledge of AutoCAD
Experience in Robot or ETABS
Knowledge of Revit, or Tekla an advantage, but not necessary
Ability to present designs and complex engineering problems in a concise and simple manner so that non-engineers understand the main principles
Effective time management, ability to handle tasks across a multiple of projects, ensuring projects are covered efficiently.
