Introduction…
Astute are looking for an Environmental Engineer to join the Team on a Combined Heat and Power facility in Cumbria join the Engineering Team of a 188MW CHP located in Cumbria. Comprised of three GE Frame 6B Gas Turbines and a single 68MW Steam Turbine, the plant provides power to the National Grid as well as steam to the Nuclear facilities of Sellafield.
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager you will be responsible for managing the water & chemical processes on site. This included management of contractors, monitoring plant and reporting.
Roles & Responsibilities
As the Environmental Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Monitoring chemical dosing of boiler systems.
Monitoring results of cooling water testing and analysis.
Managing contracts and conducting regular service provider reviews.
Management of the L8 compliance for Legionella, this includes developing processes and systems, reviewing reports and monitor L8 specific job progress.
Waste disposal / environmental control including auditing of waste handlers.
Acting as nominated party for Environment Agency stakeholder meetings.
Emissions monitoring & reporting including reporting on CEMS testing.
Other duties including COSHH management, ISO14001 management & training.
Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Ideally qualified in a relevant field such as a HNC/D in Chemical / Science / Environmental field.
Holding a NEBOSH / IOSH would be advantageous.
Ideally previous experience in a similar role in an Engineering / Process facility such as Power Station, Refinery, COMAH site etc.
Experience in SHEQ systems including Environmental Reporting, Emissions Monitoring, ISO standards & Environmental Permits
