Our client is looking to recruit a full-time Senior Structural and Civil Engineer, ideally with experience in the gas industry, because of their increasing workload and expanding client base.
The successful candidate must be able to work from home, utilising for wed conferencing solutions.
Key responsibilities:
Undertake structural analysis and design for gas and equipment supporting structures, in line with relevant codes of practice and industry standards.
Advise on construction methodology, including temporary works in accordance with CDM regulations.
Utilise AutoCAD (computer aided design) systems, computer software and other design aids, as required.
Liaise with clients to determine the design parameters.
Carry out risk assessments for the network type and construction methods to be incorporated into the design.
Maintain a record of the progress of each design project to include communications, notices and applications.
Maintain all design records to include calculations and assumptions made.
Attend handover meetings and ensure sufficient information is included to allow delivery to work safely.
Complete variations to designs in accordance with Company procedures. Produce cost estimates in line with commercial procedures.
Support and develop other members of the team to enhance their technical knowledge and experience to undertake small networks.
Be fully conversant with the design of concrete, steel and masonry design codes with a minimum 3 years post graduation experience.
Have a good level of business, environmental, safety, financial, and regulatory awareness.
Proven ability to work to time, cost and quality.
Environmental regulation awareness and job experience.
Experience in dealing with contaminated land issues.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Degree/HNC/HND in Structural / Civil Engineering
Degree to be recognised by IstructE / ICE as appropriate
Knowledge of working within the gas industry
Desirable:
Incorporated/Chartered through IstructE / ICE
Knowledge of the gas designer's duties under CDM
Read and interpret geotechnical reports
Have a good level of business, environmental, safety, financial, and regulatory awareness.
Proven ability to work to time, cost and quality
Environmental regulation awareness and job experience
