Roome & Guarracino LLC’s Woburn, MA office is looking for a full-time Senior Structural Engineer. This role will provide full-service structural engineering consulting services such as structural design, building evaluation, building rehabilitation, and specialty design services.

We are seeking an experienced structural engineer to serve as our Senior Project Manager. While leading projects and mentoring junior staff, you will be supporting Roome & Guarracino LLC efforts to provide exceptional full-service engineering services. In this role, qualified candidates will completely engage in each stage of the process, from schematic design to construction. In our highly collaborative environment, you will contribute to improving our internal design process, collaborate with other engineers, and be seen as an integral part of our junior engineer’s growth. This role is client-facing, which is a critical component of maintaining strong customer relationships throughout and beyond projects.

Roome & Guarracino LLC, established in 2005, is a full-service structural engineering consulting firm that focuses on the analysis, design, and evaluation of various building types and other structural elements. We are a close-knit team, who values collaboration and teamwork. We furnish structural engineering services for a wide variety of clients, including architects, private owners, and contractors, and are well versed in the LEED requirements as they relate to structure.

 

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage projects of varying complexity and size, from schematic or conceptual design to construction in accordance with client specifications and safety standards
  • Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and develop steps for their proper execution
  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including time and scope involved for new and existing or rehabilitation projects
  • Manage construction administration services including shop drawing, assessment and field jobsite visits
  • Experience developing schematics for structures in accordance with client specifications and safety standards
  • Project development and leadership skills are essential to manage junior engineers
  • Experience in engineering and designing structural building systems such as wood, concrete, steel and masonry for commercial and residential projects
  • Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan
  • Attend client meetings and promote the ultimate client experience
  • Account for possible project challenges or constraints and proactively seek to manage challenges

 

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in structural engineering. Experience with large-scale developments in all material types (wood, steel, concrete) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Revit, RISA Structural System, Enercalc, and STAAD strongly preferred
  • Advance knowledge of industry best practices, techniques, standards, and specifications
  • Ability to work in a team environment and deliver a product that exceeds client expectations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Take a project from beginning to end (procuring and planning projects)
  • Professional Engineering license (PE)
