Job Title: Senior Civil Design Engineer

Location: Tadcaster, Yorkshire, UK / Leeds, Yorkshire, UK.

Role type: Hybrid (2-3 days in office).

Salary: £36k - £45k (experience dependent).

Role summary: Working on several flood and coastal projects in the Yorkshire region.

About the role:

-To meet our clients growing business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for a Senior Engineer within the discipline of civil engineering, specialising in either Structural, Flood or Coastal Engineering.

-The successful candidate will lead technical design work for civil engineering projects within the flood risk management sector.

-Experience of traditional consultancy appraisal and design, and/or design and build work projects.

-The role may involve working within the clients joint venture and alongside our clients partner.

-We are looking for candidates with sound technical knowledge, a positive and proactive mindset, and the motivation to work proactively within the construction teams in a collaborative way.

-This role will report to an existing design team leader and will contribute to the delivery of a range of engineering and environmental improvement projects, including permanent detailed design and build schemes and temporary works.

-The candidate will be responsible for mentoring and supervising junior staff and, dependant on experience could develop into line management duties.

Qualifications and experience:

-For this role professional membership of a recognised professional institution such as the ICE or IStructE is preferred and a degree (or equivalent) in civil or structural engineering is essential.

-Our client has an approved training scheme with the Institution of Civil Engineers and has personnel who can support your progress to Chartership.

-Candidates should have substantial and proven experience of UK consultancy work and/or design and build experience.

-Excellent report writing and effective communication skills are essential to this role.

-Candidates should have a sound appreciation for engineering principles and good analytic skills for problem solving.

-Self-motivation and a high degree of organisation are also considered key attributes.

-The candidate must be a self-starter, capable of working without supervision to a high technical standard.

-Knowledge of relevant design codes and software packages is essential as you will be required to generate, check and review engineering calculations within a wide variety of projects including but not limited to drainage and structural.

-Excellent team working and communication skills are required, and you may have to work with staff outside of the core team based in your local office.
