You will be joining our expanding team of over 7000 delivering innovative engineering across a spectrum of digital, energy transition and Nuclear technologies such as fusion and modularisation alongside key global large-scale critical Infrastructure projects.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced civil engineer with great stakeholder management skills to join us as a Building Lead Civil Engineer, working on the Hinkley Point project based from our Bristol offices.

The role would suit someone with experience in design management and coordination on multi-discipline projects, and is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career.

Key Accountabilities:

Define the strategy for the successful delivery the design of the building
Set and manage the building requirements specification, based on operational requirements, input and interface data and manage the designs to meet the building functional requirements.
Prepare the technical specifications for the consultants and contractors developing the design of the building.
Contribute to the preparation of the Surveillance Plan and perform surveillance of subcontracted design activities
Day to day technical management of the consultants and contractors as they develop the design of the building to ensure they meet the functional requirements
Liaise with stakeholders involved in the specification, procurement, design, construction, use, maintenance and decommissioning of the building
Perform design reviews, release hold points and accept design when fit for construction.
Analyse and resolve any technical design issues presented by consultants and contractors, challenge their proposals.
Manage the changes and non-conformances occurring during the design, raise associated design changes where required to manage the overall project configuration.
Report to the Site Building Team Lead regarding the progress of design according to the provisions set out in the Technical Work Quality Plan.
Provide technical support to other building leads on their core discipline (civil/structure/mechanical/electrical/building services)
Contribute to the building specification, perform surveillance, provide technical advice on their core disciplines.

Key Skills & Experience:

Degree qualified or equivalent in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical/Building Service Engineering discipline. Chartered status desirable.
Experience in design management and coordination on multi-discipline projects.
Knowledge of engineering procedures and processes especially RIBA plan of work, or equivalent.
Experienced in Building Regulations, British Standards and other codes, standards and guidance that are relevant to design and construction in the UK.
Accuracy, tenacity, diplomacy, results-oriented, leadership.
Acknowledged organisational skills including the ability to delegate.
Ability to work independently and be proactive.
Excellent communication/interpersonal skills/team working
