Senior Structural Design Engineer - Manchester

The Client is a small but smart business within a larger Group, providing Civil and Structural design consultancy to institutional clients, developers, agents and contractors in commercial property sectors, as well as expert witness services, technical due diligence reporting, structural inspections and construction monitoring.

Working throughout the UK, and often in collaboration with its parent company, the client is particularly well known for complex refurbishment and re-use projects, enabling clients to optimise their assets. Most of our work comes through repeat business and recommendation. You will have the chance to work on a range of projects, refurb, new build and inspections; giving a high level of interaction with colleagues and clients, and support to develop your own contacts, this is a role that offers interest and variety together with flexibility and benefits offered by the parent company.

Role Responsibilities - Senior Structural Engineer

* This is a Senior role within our Structures team * You will be a capable structural design engineer, able to work independently and to supervise and check the work of junior colleagues within the team * You will be required to attend design team and client meetings, site meetings and inspections. * You will be managing your own projects and assisting with fee proposals and tenders for new work * We expect Senior staff to assist with business development and marketing activities * We work nationwide, so travel within the UK and some overnight stays will be required.

Role Requirements

* Undergraduate/Masters' Degree in Structural and/or Civil Engineering * CEng Chartered in IStructE and/or ICE

* 2-5 years' experience post-chartership * Demonstrable experience of working at a Project Lead/Senior level, including management of staff * Structural design experience in commercial property sectors is essential * Structural inspection/survey experience and report writing is desirable * Good communication and interpersonal skills

* Experience with Tekla Structural Designer and TEDDS, SFrame, Robot, Microdrainage is desirable - training can be arranged if required.

* Full driving licence
