Full Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for a practical minded Structural Design Engineer to join our team at Structural Design Bureau Ltd in Worcester Park. SDB is a busy Consulting Engineers practice primarily engaged in structural engineering design and drawing work across the Aviation, Residential, Commercial and Industrial Building sectors. The practice currently employs three staff and is looking for a candidate who will contribute to the development of our team and get involved in projects from inception through to completion stage. The chosen candidate will be offered ongoing support and development opportunities to progress towards Chartership of the Institution of Structural Engineers.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
• Working independently in the production of concept designs and details structural design calculations within defined project timescales.
• Liaising with other construction professionals in the development and coordination of designs.
• Undertaking structural analysis and designs using software packages and by hand as required.
• Production of AutoCAD drawings and quality reviews of drawn information prior to issue.
Other general roles and responsibilities include:
• Responsible for the analysis and design of building structures, progressing to overall design of structures.
• Attend external design meetings / site visits with clients and other design team members.
• Site survey and preparation of survey reports.
• Prepare correspondence and technical reports.
Skills required:
• Steelwork design to EU Codes essential
• Steelwork connection design would be an advantage
• Proficient in using AutoCAD.
• Being able to produce a set of construction drawings for projects.
• Good report writing skills
• Ability to use Autodesk ROBOT structural analysis and design package.
• Must be IT literate with experience in structural design software packages.
• Must be technically competent
• Ability to use Autodesk REVIT would be an advantage

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Experience: 2 years plus, experience in a UK based building structures design consultancy
Education: Meng or BEng (Bachelor's degree) minimum 2:1 required
Location: Worcester Park, Surrey - 2 minutes' walk from train station
Salary: The salary range for this post is £30,000 - £34,000 p.a. (depending on experience)
