This is an exciting opportunity for a field-based Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join an enthusiastic team. ListersGeo are geotechnical and geoenvironmental consultants and deliver ground investigation and geotechnical/geoenvironmental services to a wide range of clients across the UK. Based at our main head office near Towcester, Northamptonshire, we require a full time, predominantly field based, Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to undertake fieldwork duties at sites across the UK.
This will involve principally outdoor work in order to undertake a range of site-based activities including, but not limited to:
Supervision of ground investigation crews, including cable percussion, rotary, and window sampling contractors
Trial pitting
Soil and rock logging to BS
Insitu testing including hand vanes, TRL probing, dynamic plate testing
Soakaway/permeability testing
Verification sampling and testing
Gas/groundwater monitoring
Hand auger sampling and inspection pit excavations
Preparing soils samples from boreholes and trial pit excavations and assisting senior engineers
Awareness of construction site health and safety, and possession of Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling, First Aid and Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) certification, would be advantageous for this role but not essential as training will be provided where necessary.
The role provides a great opportunity for professional and personal development and the prospect to progress to assist with project delivery through preparation of desk studies, interpretation of ground investigations and to progress to factual and interpretative reporting.
We are looking for a professional, dynamic and highly motivated individual with ability to work alone and as part of a team. You will be working on sites nationwide and you must be willing to travel and, if necessary, work away from home. Personal pride in your work, an ability to work to deadlines, a high degree of reliability and trustworthiness are vital attributes in addition to an ability to self-manage. Communicative, organised, flexible and committed, the successful candidate will ideally have:
Degree in geology, a related earth science, or civils-related subject
Experience of drilling rigs
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Holebase
Must be organised, conscientious and motivated with good leadership skills
Full and clean UK driving licence
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Flexibility in a physically demanding work environment
In return, we offer a competitive salary and the benefits of a company pension, private health policy and an ability to progress in the company.
