Senior Structural Engineer - Civil Engineering

This role is to work as part of our growing building structures team of 15 in Cardiff and 28 in the South West Region taking a lead role in project work, focused on team management, design production & delivery and project team /client liaison.

On a day-to-day basis the role would be working with our Civil & Structural Engineering teams to help our client work on some of the most challenging and high profile projects within the industry and through collaboration with our unique specialist services teams helping to bring added value to the projects we deliver for our clients.

These roles are key to our ongoing success and will help us build towards delivery of a growing order book.

A typical week would include:

Liaising closely with Architects and other co-professionals during project delivery stages.
Preparing and running FEA analysis of Floor plates and total building models in various software.
Ability to justify complex structural behaviours in FEA via simple approximate hand calculations.
Production of calculations in Eurocode including QA, technical reviews and sign off.
Production of Design Development notes to succinctly express design principles to the extended team
Liaise with the CAD department to ensure that drawings are created to company standards with the correct level of detail and delivered in a timely manor
Production of design and Specifications to meet the project requirements
Attend internal and external projects design team meetings and be able to deal with the day to day queries from site
Manage our projects utilising appropriate guidance and tools.
Assist in the project lifecycle documentation - QA, CDM, Archiving etc. and coach more junior colleagues in their use.

The candidate must have excellent inter-personal skills, with good leadership potential capable of communicating effectively with other members of the project team and stakeholders. The candidate is expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for delivery of excellence in challenging building projects

Wed love to hear from you if you have:

Degree (BEng/MEng or similar)
Working towards Chartered status (MIStructE/MICE)
Competent Engineer who is comfortable working on a project with limited assistance, with a track record in supervising designs produced by junior colleagues.
Concrete, steel and timber design proficiency.
Experience of Software TEKLA, Ram Structural systems, Ram Concept, REVIT & BIM360.
