As a client facing, Project Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will typically involve:

• Supporting the Department Manager in delivering the business plan by working with Sector Management to deliver value propositions to our key clients.
• Ensuring that the Engineering Execution plan is developed and agreed and is reflective of the overall project execution strategy.
• Work with clients to develop concepts and business cases to support their objectives. Take full accountability for delivery of engineering design on major projects through the various of stage of the project life cycles.
• Management the engineering and technical input required on major tenders.
• Management of contractual communications, supporting progress meetings, risk reduction meetings, cost reports, coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams and running / closing out contract actions.
• You will provide a commercial focus with a high level of challenge on project scope and protecting against uncontrolled scope creep.
• Ensure that key project and programme risks are identified early, and mitigated where possible, with issues and blockers escalated immediately to the PEM.
• Ensuring all services comply fully with Client & Costain governance processes, standards and obtaining necessary approvals.
• Develop projective relationships by communicating with colleagues and subordinates, developing trust and support and building teams.
• Support the Department Manager in develop and mentoring other members of the project engineering department.
• Inform teams and individuals regularly on organisation performance, policies and procedures using oral and written media.
• Regularly report to senior operational management on the performance of the engineering delivery for the project.
• Feedback to senior operational management sub-ordinates comments, recommendations for performance improvement and barriers to individual and team performance.

About You…

As an experienced project engineering manager, you will have:

• Significant Experience in coordinating multi-discipline teams across the various stages of the project life cycle on major contracts in the Water sector
• Knowledge of UK legislation and standards
• Ideally an Honours Degree or better an engineering discipline or similar subject
• Chartered Engineer and Membership of an engineering institute
• Experience in the requirements for CE marking of plant and equipment
• Experience in the governance and process in your applicable sector
• Mobility to travel

Role sits out of IR35 and client is willing to discuss remote and hybrid work arrangements.
