Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer (0-5 years' experience)

We are currently seeking a motivated and ambitious Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer to join our Birmingham office. The Ground Engineering team undertake a diverse range of geotechnical, geological, and geo-environmental projects within the residential, development, infrastructure and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will therefore have a role in supporting our ability to deliver geotechnical and contaminated land investigation, assessment and remediation services.

As a Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer, you will be part of a team delivering a range of geotechnical and/or geo-environmental assignments including (but not limited to): desk studies, design and management of ground investigations and monitoring, factual and interpretative reporting, geotechnical assessments, contaminated land risk assessments and validation of construction works.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the day to day project management and delivery of projects working closely with and being supported by our existing team. Assist with negotiations with clients, relevant regulatory authorities, sub-contractors and other members of the design team, as necessary.

You:
  • BSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, MSc or industry experience is advantageous;
  • Working towards chartership through a professional institution;
  • A full and clean UK driving licence;
  • Confidence and knowledge of UK ground investigation techniques;
  • A good knowledge of the principal soil and rock strata encountered in the UK and associated geohazards.
  • Written report writing skills, and computer software skills;


Experience in some or all of the following would be seen as being advantageous:
  • Logging soils and rock to current British Standards
  • UK Specification for Ground Investigation.
  • Undertaking works in line with CDM regulations.
  • Holebase (or other ground database).
  • Slope stability analysis, foundation design, waste assessments and remediation method statements.
  • British Standards, Eurocodes, Industry Guidance and NHBC Standards for both contaminated land and geotechnical appraisals.
