What you'll be doing
As a Construction Assurance Engineer, you'll ensure contractors are safely delivering the required assets to time, quality, and cost. You'll be involved during the design, construction, commissioning, and defects rectification period of the project: Ensuring buildability, and efficient and effective delivery whilst safeguarding our site compliance and process. Meeting regulatory and statutory requirements and maximizing benefits to Thames Water. You'll be accountable for overseeing all construction activities on your projects from conception to completion monitoring compliance with our asset standards, safety, environmental, and quality standards, and wider regulations. You'll actively promote the Thames Water ‘Three Zeros' culture, monitoring contractor health and safety performance.

Key role responsibilities include:

Engaging with Asset Management and Operations to agree on the most effective solutions
Assisting with the assessment and appointment of contractors
Using learnings from previous projects to optimize the construction and handover phase of projects and innovate where practicable
Supporting key design reviews (Solutions review/Challenge Workshop, HAZOP, HAZCOM, SWIFT)
Verifying and approving project plans
Identifying risks and issues and working with stakeholders to resolve
Liaising with Operations and contractors to approve passing through key milestones
Assessing and reporting project progress, acting to rectify issues, and escalating as necessary
Assuring the project as it moves through the construction phase ensuring all non-conformance is identified and rectified
Monitoring and reviewing component (FAT/SAT) testing and commissioning, ensuring all commissioning activities defined in the commissioning plan are satisfactorily completed
Auditing contractor compliance with site procedures, following up and ensuring corrective actions are closed out
Managing identification and resolution of snags before the commencement of taking Over procedures
Monitoring, agreeing, and approving Take Over tests
Liaising with Operations and contractors to manage the defects process and performance testingWe're looking for you to:
For the position at Mogden, we are looking for skills in Mechanical Engineering or Instrumentation, Control, and Integration (ICA)
For the position at Guildford, we are looking for a background in Civil Engineering

Have an HNC or above in an appropriate engineering subject or significant experience in a similar role
Be qualified in NEBOSH or IOSH General or Construction Certificate or SMSTS or willing to gain
Be knowledgeable in the processes used in water and/or wastewater as appropriate
Understand the development of design, construction, and operation of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects
Be self-starting, resilient, and tenacious under pressure, with a desire to successfully deliver projects to time, cost, and quality
Have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, to interact with our stakeholders and contractors
Possess excellent organization and workload management skills
Deliver an exceptional service through a passionate and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team
Foster a positive Health & Safety culture within the team and contractors, ensuring we fulfill environmental and Health & Safety statutory obligations
Have a full driving license as travel will be required to construction and operational sites across the Thames Water catchment areaWhat's in it for you?

We are flexible on the level of the role and both L7 and L6 opportunities are available.

Our competitive salary package includes an excellent contributory pension, 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service, and a wider benefits scheme.

The base location for the role is flexible within the Thames Water area.
