Environmental Project Engineer

My client, a world leader in the defence sector, requires an Environmental Project Engineer to join their team in Stevenage, working across the product lifecycle on weapon systems projects.

Environmental Project Engineer

The Environmental Project Engineer will be based in the specialist mechanical and climatic facilities, offering the chance to use pioneering analytical tools and powerful, innovative techniques for simulating environments across the life cycle for land, sea and air-based weapon-system projects.

You will provide a technical focal point for all stages of the product lifecycle, through concept definition, design and formal qualification, through to in-service support. Our clients expertise covers the areas of requirements specification and management, definition of proving methodologies, project management, data analysis, simulation and modelling and testing in climatic, mechanical (vibration and shock) and fatigue. They apply specialist technical knowledge and advice, with responsibility for technical accuracy and delivery of projects within assigned work packages. This role provides plenty of opportunity for hands-on engineering coupled with technical work based on fundamental engineering principles.

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject, with proven experience of planning, managing and delivering small to medium sized work packages. You will have knowledge of environmental engineering within the defence sector or relevant industry, covering vibration, shock, temperature and humidity environments and their applicability to different products at different life cycle stages. As such, you will need an understanding of environmental test processes, test measurements and instrumentation.

You will be a solution-oriented person with an inquisitive nature, an analytical mind and excellent problem-solving skills.
