Major GPS have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Traffic & Transport Engineer to take up an important role in the future of an organisation that is committed to providing a quality service to its growing Client base. As Assistant Engineer you will join the Traffic and Transportation team which currently consists of a number of engineers considering the highway aspects of a wide variety of private and public sector development proposals.

  • Preparing supporting documentation in relation to planning applications and other legal aspects of the development industry.
  • Assist in the preliminary design of junction arrangements and sustainable transport facilities to serve the developments in question.
  • Liaise with Clients and to assist our Principal Engineers in managing a team of engineers and technicians working on a range of projects.
  • Working alongside Local, Regional and National Planning and Highway Authorities, Public and Private Developers, the position offers an exciting opportunity to take up an important role.

Skills/Experience Required
  • Some experience working in a consulting engineering office environment.
  • Preferably some experience of a highways development control or similar role and will ideally hold, or will be working towards, EngTech or Incorporated Engineer status.
  • You will preferably have some knowledge of software packages such as TRICS, Tempro and Junctions along with a basic understanding of the preparation of Transport Assessments and other related reports.
  • The use of Junctions and LinSig software packages are required together with experience of highway design standards.
  • You will be working in a positive team environment therefore you should be confident and personable with the ability to integrate.
