Introduction:

There is a need to concentrate the engineering expertise in the same location in a single Centre of Excellence. The primary operating asset is the new J-Lay vessel Amazon, which is due to lay its first pipeline in the next quarter, and already has three committed projects. In addition, we are seeing a high interest from several clients in Amazon-related business requiring growth across multiple engineering disciplines.

In particular, we are seeking a strong candidate in geotechnical engineering at senior level with good analysis skills in geotechnical engineering applicable to deepwater subsea developments.

Job Overview:

Execution of subsea geotechnical analyses, working in collaboration with pipeline engineers, structural engineers and other disciplines to provide technical inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams.

Essential Requirements:

  • Able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and experience and participate in resolution of technical issues to ensure projects on-time delivery
  • Able to prepare scopes of work for offshore geotechnical and geophysical surveys, laboratory test assignments for design of subsea pipelines and foundations
  • Able to interpret ground investigation data from site investigation
  • Able to derive soil parameters for subsea pipeline design and foundation design
  • Can perform Pipe-Soil Interaction assessment in accordance with industry standards like DNVGL-RP-F114
  • Able to perform geohazard assessment, giving recommendations for risk mitigation
  • Can design shallow and deep foundations, including mudmats, suction piles and driven piles, including pile drivability
  • Experience of numerical modelling and geotechnical software including Plaxis, SLOPEW.
  • Familiarity with principal pipeline codes such as API-RP-2GEO, DNVGL-RP-C212, DNV-RP-E303, ISO 19901-4 and related codes
  • A degree in civil engineering or geology with a post -graduate qualification in geotechnical engineering (minimum MSc or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience


Preferred Requirements:

  • Familiar with international standards and codes of practice such as API, DNV etc.
  • A team player and able to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Clear communication skills, including report writing, with ability to present ideas and results to others
  • Able and willing to provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to others.
  • Ability to foresee solutions and make predictions based on knowledge of engineering first principles
  • Reasonable understanding of related subsea engineering disciplines (flow assurance, installation analysis, materials performance, pipeline engineering, subsea structures, umbilicals)
  • Familiarity with Tier 1 Operator's standard operating procedures
  • Chartered engineer
