We'll cover this during the assessment process.What you'll be doingAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Assurance Engineer to work within the Environmental Engineering team in Capital Delivery. This role is part of the team that Thames Water requires to achieve its AMP7 ambitions and beyond and provides the expertise needed to:
  • Identify environmental risks and constraints throughout the project lifecycle and mitigate them as appropriate
  • Ensure environmental compliance and obtain the required consent promptly
  • Review contractors' submissions including the construction management plans
The day-to-day accountabilities include:
  • Ensure engineering projects meet compliance with the Thames Water environmental standards
  • Carry out environmental construction site audits to improve performance
  • Ensure environmental compliances during project delivery from the initial stages of design through construction and commissioning
  • Review environmental assessments and environmental management plans
  • Assist project teams to deliver the environmental objectives in line with the time targets
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractor's environmental leads
  • Improve contractors' environmental performance by undertaking site audits and through lessons learned
  • Supervise project engineers and the work carried out by consultants
  • Take an active role in improving performance across the engineering team
What you should bring to the role
  • Be educated to a degree level in an appropriate environmental/ecological or sustainability discipline or possess equivalent role-specific experience
  • Understand the regulatory environment we work in to achieve compliance with our environmental engineering regulatory requirements
  • Have excellent communication and collaboration skills, to interact with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Be a great team player with the ability to lead and work collaboratively with all stakeholders but also capable of working independently
  • Have a desire to adopt and demonstrate behaviors aligned with Thames Water's values
  • Have a passion for continuous professional development and an active approach to driving diversity within Engineering in Thames Water
