Summit Engineering, Inc. is a multi-disciplined design engineering firm located in the heart of beautiful Sonoma County (Santa Rosa, CA.)  Our Civil, Wastewater, Structural and Electrical/Lighting and Planning Divisions provide consulting engineering services for winery, high-end residential, resort, and other commercial projects. Our Civil Engineering division is currently looking for an experienced Project Engineer with strong technical skills and site development experience.

This Civil Project Engineer is responsible for preparing all aspects of a construction document package and capable of independently making design decisions. The Project Engineer prepares engineering analysis, design, and calculation. They work with dynamic design teams including landscape architects, land use planners, attorneys, owners, winemakers, and facility managers. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is critical.  Areas of design work include sustainable site design, stormwater mitigation measures, grading, utility layout, pavement design, roadway geometry as well as hydraulic, hydrologic and earthwork calculations.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. 4+ years engineering experience showing progressively increasing responsibility.
  • California P.E. (or in process of obtaining with a completed E.I.T/F.E).
  • Technical expertise in site development, grading, drainage and utilities.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.  The candidate should be skilled with the capabilities and operations of Civil 3D for building surfaces, performing grading, laying out utilities, building corridors and cutting profiles and sections.
  • Experience using hydrology and hydraulic design software such as Hydroflow, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, and HEC-RAS. QSD/QSP certification and QISP certifications ideal.
  • Knowledge of sustainable site design practices.
  • Proficient with the use of spreadsheets, word processing, and engineering software and ability to prepare electronic design calculation documents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a project team, and to solve problems, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and exercise sound engineering judgment.
