Girec is happy to announce that we will be recruiting on behalf of our industry-leading client, boasting decades of experience and forefront in the independent ground engineering contractors sector within, the UK.

The candidate is required to split their time between the office based in the North of Nottingham, and whichever site you will be working on.

Candidates are welcome to apply who live up to 3 hours from the North of Nottingham and are required to attend the office a couple of times a month, allowing for some home working.

What type of candidate are we looking for?

We are in search of a particular calibre of Geotechnical or Geoenvironmental engineer that possesses a strong background in design and construction management services for tunnels, shafts and caverns.

The role requires an individual able to utilise your personable and proficient communication, to provide and share your skills in geo-environmental assessments, geotechnical design, ground investigation and report writing.

Your strong communication and personable attitude will allow you to be confident in the use of past experiences and current skills, to ensure the project's key objectives are achieved through mitigating the collaboration of multiple disciplines and guaranteeing engineers working under you are appropriately supported, collectively resulting in the fulfilment of contractual duties.

You will possess the ability to ensure your junior engineers are appropriately supported to achieve their individual and collective potential through mentorship, practical support and feedback, whilst simultaneously working under and supporting your technical leads.

What skills should you possess?

You will be confident in your abilities to plan, execute and report, phase 1 and 2 geo-environmental and geotechnical site investigations.

Through your leadership, you will illustrate the highest standard of best practice and technical guidance in contaminated land assessment and site remediation recommendations. You will also be fully efficient with tasks such as logging soil and rock samples, completing soil and groundwater risk assessments and conducting laboratory testing.

Your extensive experience managing small to medium ground investigations projects will provide you with the required skills to work on high profile projects such as the Highways and coal authority Framework

You will have a sound knowledge of UK design codes, specifications, and industry standards, and easily provide, and assess factual and interpretive reports.

You will have a relevant degree in environmental science, Geology or similar, a full driving license, and working experience using the Ground Investigation Data Management software- Open Ground/ Holebase/ GINT
