Civil Design Engineer - Water

Role: Civil Design Engineer - Water industry
Location: Bridgend
Duration: 6 months +
Rate: £40 - £45 per hour - Umbrella
IR35 Status: Inside

My client is looking for a Civil Design Engineer to work on a number of projects that they have on the @One Alliance/Anglian Water framework where you be providing technical guidance to the project team for the infrastructure discipline

Responsibilities include:

·Development of solutions and suitable designs of water systems that achieve the goals of Anglian Water in terms of customer, environment, and efficiency.
·Responsibility for consistently high-quality work and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the team.
·Collaborate with the design team to develop 3D models (where appropriate) and solutions
·Support the team in the drive towards excellence in Health & Safety, demonstrating applied knowledge & skills to produce safe designs to discharge obligation according to CDM Regulations, standards and accepted codes of practice
·Proactively and reactively champion the need to deliver technical excellence ensuring the importance is understood and implemented across projects
·Maintain close links with other Engineers, Technical Managers and Operations to ensure smooth interfaces between disciplines, manage gaps/overlaps and share best practice to optimise performance
·Liaise with our Enabling & Customer Teams to ensure our impact on the environment and our customers is minimised and enhanced where possible
·Liaison with external stakeholders
·Ability to develop routes, considering construction techniques, environmental, customer and third party constraints & requirements
·Be competent in selecting & designing pipelines - materials, fittings, bedding & jointing
·Able to design thrust blocks
·Ability to develop connection details, commissioning plans and network interruption plans (for connections to existing mains)
·Able to produce small treatment site layouts
·Be able to work with hydraulic modellers to refine solutions and reduce scope. Interpret modelling reports and challenge assumptions

Skills and Experience:

·The ideal candidate will have a BEng/MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering or/and working towards the attainment of professional qualifications with ICE or CIWEM.
·Relevant experience in design, construction and project management activities as described in the technical requirements
·Working knowledge of BIM in the context of its application in the water industry
·Computer literate particularly with packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
·Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civils 3D (desirable).
·Willingness to work in other UK offices for short term assignments.
·UK/EEC driving licence and access to transport to attend client sites when required
